The Top Things To Know about the Void of Course Moon
What exactly is the void of course moon? To put it most easily, it's the time when the moon is switching between signs (think Leo, Virgo, Aries, etc) and not making any other alignments with other planetary bodies. For context, each month, the moon travels through all 12 signs of the astrological chart. For usually two to two-and-a-half days, the moon is in Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, and so on. During the moon’s travel, when the signs switch, and the moon jumps from one zodiac sign to the next, the time span between changing signs is called the moon being void of course. Meaning, the course that the moon is on, is currently in the “void” where it’s not “in” any sign and also not making any notable alignments.
Modern astrology and Moonology™️ typically leans towards avoiding doing things like moon rituals, new moon manifesting, wishing, intentions, etc. during the time where the moon is void of course. Still others believe that working with the cycles of the moon is always good, and there are not time frames to be avoided such as the ones illustrated by void of course moon charts. Moonology™️ maven, teacher, and the author of the amazing Moonology™️ Diary that i use every year (get yours here on Amazon!) Yasmin Boland, has advised both sides of this on a podcast of hers a while back with expertise from a highly acclaimed astrologer. Check out her podcast "The Mainly Moonology™️ Podcast" for that episode, it was quite extensively delved into by them both from modern and ancient astrology points of view.
For me personally, I tend to follow the void of course moon schedule and usually use that time during the void as a “break time” where I pay extra attention to giving thanks for all that I have as well as going with the flow. It's a great time to "finish things on a high note" (the kind words of Astrologer Terence on Astrology Answers weekly Youtube videos) or wrap up loose ends on things you have already begun. It's a good time to reflect, prepare, give thanks and pause. Even though we are in a waxing moon cycle right now, meaning the time is grrrreat to get going on new ideas, projects and endeavors (we just past a recent new moon) the void time is a nice time to "just be".
I'm giving all this info out there to prepare that this Friday 8/9/24 at 445pm cst the moon will go void for about 24/25 hours or so. One full day of void moon, that is not typical as usually these durations last from anywhere to a few mins to several hours. 24 hours void is a rare for the moon. So during this rare, Friday night to Saturday night occurrence, take a moment for yourself to give thanks for the week. Give yourself a pat on the back for making it through all that you have made it through. Do some journaling, practice gratitude, meditate, chant, pray or use the time to connect with nature and loved ones.
No need to fear the void! The above given ways are for your to take some time to enjoy the void by resting and reflecting. I recommend it to you and to all!
