Slow Work Ahead

Slow Work Ahead

Sometimes just to take a moment to yourself is bliss! Easier said than done, I can hear your thoughts this very moment saying, “Yes, that’s what they all say. If I could do that, I would do that.” I am here to say, you can! I get it. Working (if you are fortunate enough to have a job) all day long, some of us commute, and then when you get punched out and back home, the day is not over, yet there is still much to be done. Take a moment. Take a deep breath. Even for just a moment. There are ways to enjoy a moment of serenity around us, even if it is just that moment between daily hustles. Sometimes, that is all there is time for...just a moment. That’s all you need to get reset and ready to take on more beauty of the day.

I had the opportunity to sit in on a meeting with a professional wellness nurse to go over practices of self-care. I consider myself very fortunate to get some of her amazing expertise. She had some amazing experience for several decades and has practiced and studies many mindfulness activities over the years.

Here are the steps along this journey...

Step 1: Close your eyes, if you can. Begin to inhale for a count of four seconds.

Step 2: Hold the breath for four seconds.

Step 3: Exhale for a count of four seconds.

Step 4: Repeat these three steps a total of 10 times.

Step 5: Feel your tension release, and feel your blood pressure decrease.

Do you feel your mind harmonizing with your own internal vibrations? Your health is important...both physical and mental health. To focus on your breath is to focus on your soul. Keep up this practice for an entire week and watch yourself move down the road toward wellness!
